On the crisp morning of 25th February 2024, we set out at 6:30 am from Kalyan West our hometown, with the sun just beginning to peek over the horizon while the moon was about to set. Our trusty companion for the day was a single bike, the reliable Splendor Xtec. Before hitting the road, a quick pit stop was in order. We topped up the tank with 500 rupees of petrol (approx 4.8 Liters) from a nearby station, ensuring we had enough to fuel our adventure.

The ride from Kalyan to Murbad was an experience in itself. The chilly morning air nipped at our fingers, but we were greeted with stunning views and the refreshing aroma of the surrounding forests. The road, winding and inviting, seemed to beckon us further into the day's escapade.

Our first stop was Murbad, where we stopped for breakfast, we had vada pav. with hungry stomachs, we indulged in this local delight along with a steaming cup of tea, the perfect start to our day.

Revived and ready for more, we continued our journey towards Malshej Ghat. The road unfolded before us, revealing vistas that seemed straight out of a painting. Reaching Malshej Ghat around 9 am, we paused to take in the majestic mountains and the sprawling valleys below.

Next on our itinerary was Junnar, a town steeped in history and surrounded by nature's bounty. The road from Malshej to Junnar was nothing short of spectacular, with two ghats offering breathtaking views at every turn.

Parking our bike at a modest fee of 20 rupees at the base of Shivneri Forst which is 3-4 Km from Junnar, we set off on foot towards the historic Shivneri Fort. The trek to the top was an adventure in itself, taking us through time as we explored the ancient structures and learned about the fort's storied past. The panoramic view from the summit was awe-inspiring, with the entire city of Junnar laid out before us.

A special moment awaited us as we stood at the birthplace of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, a figure of immense historical significance. It was a humbling experience, standing in the footsteps of a legend.

Descending from the fort, our next destination beckoned—the Bhimashankar caves, nestled amidst small mountains. The trek to the caves was a short but thrilling one, leading us to hidden wonders and stunning views from the top.

However, amidst the excitement, a small mishap occurred. We realized we had left our helmet behind on the bike, and when we were back it was stolen,  a small price to pay for the thrill of the journey.  Despite the presence of traffic police along the highway, we were fortunate that they did not stop us.

Heading back to Junnar, we paused for a hearty lunch at a local dhaba before making our way to Pimpalgaon Joga Dam. Even though we were only there for a short while near the dam, seeing the calm dam surrounded by nature was really beautiful
